Bluetooth: my watch won't connectUpdated 4 days ago

🔗 Basic checks

Before anything else — run through this checklist

CheckWhat to do
📱 Phone compatibilityAndroid 5.0+ (6.0+ for ICE Fit) or iOS 9.0+ (12.0+ for ICE Smart Junior)
📲 App versionMake sure you have the latest version of the ICE Smart or ICE JUNIOR app
🔵 BluetoothTurn Bluetooth off and back on on your phone
🔋 Watch batteryEnsure the watch has enough charge (at least 20%)
📡 EnvironmentTry pairing in an open space — walls, Wi-Fi routers, and other Bluetooth devices can interfere

🔄 Full reset procedure (works for most cases)

How do I completely reset the Bluetooth connection?

  1. Open the ICE Smart (or ICE JUNIOR) app and remove the watch from the device list.
  2. On your phone, go to Bluetooth settings → find the watch in the paired devices list → tap "Forget this device".
  3. On the watch, go to Settings → Factory Reset and confirm.
  4. Once the watch has restarted, open the app and re-pair by following the on-screen instructions.
💡 After the reset, keep the watch and phone within 30 cm of each other during pairing for the best result.

🤖 Android-specific steps

My watch connected once but keeps disconnecting or won't reconnect

  1. Go to Settings → Apps → ICE Smart → Permissions and make sure all permissions are granted (notifications, contacts, phone, location).
  2. Go to Settings → Battery → find ICE Smart → disable any battery optimisation or background restriction for the app.
  3. Go to Settings → Notifications → ICE Smart → set to "Allow all".
  4. Re-pair the watch and test.
⚠️ On some Android manufacturers (Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei), aggressive battery management can prevent the app from running in the background and maintaining the Bluetooth connection. Always disable battery optimisation for the ICE Smart app.

The pairing fails or the watch doesn't appear in the app

  1. Uninstall the ICE Smart app completely.
  2. Restart your phone.
  3. Reinstall the app from the Google Play Store.
  4. On first launch, accept all requested permissions.
  5. Perform the full reset procedure above before re-pairing.

🍎 iPhone-specific steps

My watch won't pair or stay connected with my iPhone

  1. Go to iPhone Settings → Notifications → ICE Smart → make sure "Allow Notifications" is enabled.
  2. Go to iPhone Settings → Bluetooth → confirm the watch is listed and connected.
  3. Go to iPhone Settings → Privacy → Motion & Fitness → make sure ICE Smart is enabled.
  4. If the watch appears in Bluetooth but won't connect: tap the (i) icon next to the watch → "Forget this device" → re-pair via the app.
💡 On iPhone, always pair the watch through the ICE Smart app — not directly through the iPhone's Bluetooth settings. Using the phone's Bluetooth settings alone will not establish a full connection.

The watch was working fine but suddenly stopped connecting after an iOS update

  1. Perform the full reset procedure above.
  2. After resetting, re-grant all permissions to the ICE Smart app in iPhone Settings.
  3. Re-pair the watch.
